At “AVS Business Services Pty Ltd” / AVS Tax (collectively referred to as AVS hereinafter), protection of your privacy is of paramount importance.
We are committed to protect your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). As an accounting, taxation, corporate compliance and business advisory service we are subject to certain legislative and regulatory requirements that necessitate us to obtain and hold detailed information that personally identifies you and/or contains information about you (“personal information”). Such information may include but is not limited to;
- Names, job titles, contact and address details.
- Information in identification documents (for example, passport, driver’s licence).
- Tax file numbers and other government-issued identification numbers.
- Date of birth and gender.
- Bank account details, shareholdings and details of investments.
- Details of superannuation and insurance arrangements.
- Educational qualifications, employment history and salary.
- Visa or work permit status.
- Similar personal information as above, about your spouse and dependants.
Such information may be held by us in hard copies or electronic format.
To provide you with a comprehensive service we usually need to obtain and use this “personal information” about you. It is generally not practical to remain anonymous while dealing with an accountancy service like us, as to provide effective services to you, we usually need to collect your personal information as stated above.
We may also provide this information to other engaged advisors (such as auditors, financial planners and insurers etc) whom we deal with on your behalf to carry out and implement assigned work.
We may use your information to send product information and promotional material to you. We may also notify you of new services, events, articles or updates we think may be of interest to you. If you would rather not receive this information, please notify us at support@avstax.com.au
We may also use your information internally to assist in improving the services we provide and aid in problem resolution.
Under no circumstances we will sell, trade or rent your personal information to others.
Depending upon the nature of engagement, we may need to provide your personal information to our staff, contractors or external vendors including those located overseas who supply services to us. This may include, but is not limited to, email service providers, cloud storage providers, independent contractors & consultants, information technology service providers and debt collection agencies etc. However, we will do our best to ensure that they protect your information in the same way that we do. ‘AVS’ is committed to protecting the security of your personal information and we take all reasonable precautions to protect it from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
We may provide your information to others if we are required to do so by law or under other circumstances which the Privacy Act permits.

We aim to ensure that the personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date. It is our clients’ responsibility to inform us if their personal information is not correct. We keep personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or to comply with any applicable legal or ethical reporting or document retention requirements.
Security
We have access to the information collected from you using our secure external online server facility and other cloud software and service providers. The servers of these service providers may commonly be located outside of Australia. We will strive to protect the security of your personal information for our part, but we encourage you to ensure the strictest level of online security for your personal log-in details when using these services or software.
At all times personal or other private or sensitive information pertaining to a client is treated as highly confidential and is properly secured. Associates, employees, and contractors are to honour this commitment and care for all personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Access
Clients of “AVS” may at any time request access in writing to their personal information. We will (subject to certain exceptions) provide them with access to that information. Please direct your such requests to support@avstax.com.au and allow 4 weeks for requests to be processed.
Internet site
The “AVS Tax” website uses a range of external service providers to help us provide comprehensive quality services and may contain links or rely on use of other software and cloud-based services and vendors; meaning that individuals and organisations outside of ‘AVS’ will sometime have access to personal information held by us and may use it from or on behalf of ‘AVS’. Such individuals or organisations may or may not adhere to a privacy policy or be governed by the Australian Privacy Principles.
